Rainbow Rice

I was reluctant to make rainbow rice thinking it’d take too long and end up being a total waste.. but I’m so impressed at how easy it was and how much fun it provided. There are a few ways to make it, but all I did was fill some old plastic take away containers with rice, about half full, added about a teaspoon of vinegar in each with a few drops of food colouring, gave them a bit of a stir and shake, and left to dry outside. You could also use a ziplock bag or any reusable container.

After making it, I put it in a plastic bottle as a music shaker for 6 months so I could admire my efforts for longer, but my daughter decided it was time to free the rice! She had the BEST time with only a few cooking utensils and pans. We lost quite a bit on the ground, now in the compost bin, but I managed to save some for another day. Her smile says it all. I was convinced she was hosting her own cooking show. Recommend doing this activity outside!
